gonna do a sun and moon dichotomy with amihan and mason, not necessarily bc amihan is sunshine as a person but bc mason is a literal vampire and amihan has vitamin d deficiency and needs sunlight to be a Person
#amihan x mason#lol this is gonna be literally one of the hurdles in their rs#and yeah i also have vitamin d deficiency i realistically would not be compatible w a vampire 😔#amihan marasigan#twc posting

U-2 pilot recalls when a Soviet submarine nearly fired a nuclear torpedo at a US Navy ship almost escalating Cuban Missile Crisis into World War III
A U-2 pilot tells a scary story that took place during the Cuban Missile Crisis.
Built in complete secrecy by Kelly Johnson and the Lockheed Skunk Works, the original U-2A first flew in August 1955. Early flights over the Soviet Union in the late 1950s provided the president and other US decision makers with key intelligence on Soviet military capability.
SR-71 T-Shirts
CLICK HERE to see The Aviation Geek Club contributor Linda Sheffield’s T-shirt designs! Linda has a personal relationship with the SR-71 because her father Butch Sheffield flew the Blackbird from test flight in 1965 until 1973. Butch’s Granddaughter’s Lisa Burroughs and Susan Miller are graphic designers. They designed most of the merchandise that is for sale on Threadless. A percentage of the profits go to Flight Test Museum at Edwards Air Force Base. This nonprofit charity is personal to the Sheffield family because they are raising money to house SR-71, #955. This was the first Blackbird that Butch Sheffield flew on Oct. 4, 1965.
In October 1962, the U-2 photographed the buildup of Soviet offensive nuclear missiles in Cuba, touching off the Cuban Missile Crisis.
The fear of World War III
As a result of the Cuban Crisis the fear of World War III was on everyone’s mind. The island of Cuba just 90 miles from Florida had installed nuclear missiles capable of reaching the US.
On Oct. 23, 1962, I remember my father telling my mother to go to the commissary and buy as much food as possible. At that time we were living in Texas at Carswell Air Force Base (AFB). Dad, Butch Sheffield said as he was leaving, to fly the B-58 Hustler bomber on red alert.

Buddy Brown, one of only 12 men in the world that flew both of U-2 and the SR-71
Seven years later we were living at Beale AFB and Buddy Brown was our neighbor. He was one of the only 12 men in the world that flew both of U-2 and the SR-71. The following is an interview by Buddy Brown given ten years ago to Oakridger.
‘Now let me say something about that Cuban Missile Crisis. This is probably as close as this nation has ever come to being in World War III,’ Brown began. ‘When I say close, it was probably about that far from pushing a button to launch a nuclear torpedo,’ he stated, as he gestured with two of his fingers only a few inches apart.
The crew of a Soviet submarine thought that World War III had started
‘I was at a 50-year thing at George Mason University about a year ago, and they were celebrating (the 50th anniversary of) the Cuban Missile Crisis. Since I was one of the pilots, they had me talk to the group there about that. I sat next to Sergei Khrushchev — (Soviet Premier Nikita) Khrushchev’s son — who was around 30 years old during the Cuban Missile Crisis and is now a professor at Brown University. But he was telling us that the Soviets had some diesel subs inside the line there in case nuclear war started.
The story of Buddy Brown, the U-2 pilot that took part to O Club parties wearing fake bad teeth to joke about the ozone level effect on U-2 drivers
Buddy Brown in front of an SR-71 Blackbird Mach 3 spy plane
‘Well this one person running the submarine thought we were, in fact, at war — because they didn’t have any contact,’ Brown recalled. ‘They had a bunch of naval ships out there and, fortunately, somebody with a cooler brain stopped him from doing that — but he was about three inches from pushing and launching one of those nuclear torpedoes at one of our naval ships out there.’ He paused and stated: ‘Now that would have started it right there.’ The Soviets had, in Cuba, about sixty 1-megaton weapons that were ready to go. Cruise missiles and a few other things.’
1 MEGAton nuclear weapons
Brown concludes;
Former U-2 pilot tells the story of the Soviet submarine that almost fired a nuclear torpedo at a US Navy ship during the Cuban Missile Crisis
Soviet submarine B-59, forced to the surface by US Naval forces in the Caribbean near Cuba.
‘To make a comparison, the ones that they set off during World War II at Hiroshima and Nagasaki was about 15 kt (kiloton) — now we’re talking about 1 MEGAton and they were going to use them. Well, fortunately, none of that happened and it ended up that we didn’t go to war; but it was probably the closest this nation has ever been.’

Death Note, Black Edition #2
Leve-me com você
Ninfeias Negras
Blonde Vol. 1
Blonde Vol. 2 (é um box)
Salem (esse eu tinha lido!!!)
Ex/Mulher
Onde está Daisy Mason?
Nunca saia sozinho

Today's Goodwill Outlet haul. Not a lot, only spent $8, but it was after a dentist appointment and I had some time to kill.
Caramel M&Ms plastic container (had to dump out some sort of chemical crystals from it) where the inner clear tray rotates 90° and slides then out a bit so you can share get a bag of candy out. Bought because you never see Caramel M&Ms stuff.
3.5" floppy. Status: Blank, formatted, never used.
Foley aluminum jar funnel for canning (or anytime you need to fill a Mason jar easily), vintage. Could not leave it behind.
VHS headcleaner. Actually need one of these. Wet/Dry method, no bottle of fluid inside but it's just isopropyl alcohol anyhow.
DVD+RW. Status: Blank, unformatted, never used.
8mm videotape, 120min. Status: Unknown, giving to my friend who has the equipment (either VHS adaptor or an 8mm player).
Spindle of blank CD-Rs and DVD-Rs, also for my friend.
Three "hello" cards with a Bakelite telephone on the front and this one typewriter "thank you" card. With their envelopes.
Two rubberstamps made by Tin Can Mail in ziplock bags. They have price stickers from wherever saying $11.99 on them and no sign they were ever inked.
Carlson & Sullivan "White Chief" 8ft tape measure, vintage. Appears to work, I have only pulled it out 2ft, but it could use a little cleaning/lubrication because it rolls a little hard in places.
USB-A to MicroUSB-A cord, 1 meter, still in package, obviously from Dollar Tree or the like. If this works for data, I will be happy because I recently had a similar cord's micro plug snap right off.

Big Bad Wolf (BBW) pameran buku tahunan!
Tahun 2019 pertama kali BBW melakukan tour beberapa kota besar, Bandung termasuk.. Walaupun penyelenggaraannya bukan di Kota Bdg melainkan di KBB Kota Baru Parahyangan (agak jauh yaa dr Kota haha) tepatnya di Parahyangan convention center area hotel Mason Pine. Wkt itu umur nemo belom setaun, hampir lah. Pergi kesana sama ibu dan adik (adikku udah nikah tp belom punya anak).
BBW tahun 2019
Walaupun kalap, tetep beliin buku anak sesuai kebutuhan aja krn masih kecil kaya 1 set mini library penuh gambar dan warna, kalimatnya simple walapun pake bhs.
Kemudian datanglah pandemi, selama 2020-2021 bbw ditiadakan pameran offline nya. Jadi cuma via online di tokped, aku sempet beli bbrp buka bbw via online jg. Tahun 2022 dibuka lagi, masa pandemi belom sepenuhnya slesei jadi berkunjung kesana tetep pake masker dan prokes ketat.
BBW tahun 2022
Tahun ini bareng sama bapak @sagarmatha13 rela bolos kerja demi nemenin kita. Knp bolos? Sehari bolos ya gpp kan yaa, toh tanggungjawab kerjaan selalu blio tuntaskan.
BBW tahun 2023
Knp ortu terutama aku deh, ngga beli jg yaa? Hahaha. Anak aja disuruh suka buku, tapi ibu bapaknya ko males~ huffftttt. Bagaimana ini cara menumbuhkan lg minat baca? Kadang udah liat2 beberapa buku self improvement, buku fiksi, non fiksi.. Banyaaak bgt, pada akhirnya diliat2 untuk dilalui sajah. Mudah2an deh yaa si minat baca ini tumbuh kembali, niat selalu ada tapi yaa eksekusinya selalu ditunda2 haha..

[With Dr. Sreekrishna at his residence in Mason, OH in 2008 when we were translating the Gita together!]
Please find below a short note from him. –Hari Ravikumar
My Journey with the Bhagavad-gita From my childhood, I have been connected to the Bhagavad-gita, one way or another. My father (K. S. Krishna Tatachar, Sanskrit scholar and author) taught me the recitation of the Gita in the traditional, rigorous way. By age 9, I had memorized the entire 700 verses of the Gita. The most thrilling moment with this rote memorization, ever fresh in my memory, was when I won the first prize in ‘Six Chapter Gita Recitation Contest’ at my school (National Middle School, Bangalore) in 1963. One of the judges of the contest was apparently so impressed that he added Rs. 10 from his own pocket to the actual award amount of Rs. 29. I consider that as the most valuable ten rupees ever earned in my life because it was a blessing from Prof. H. S. Varadadeshikachar, who was to be my Sanskrit teacher in college; later, he was better known as H. H. Sri Rangapriya Swami.
Before I left to Houston, TX in 1978 to undertake postdoctoral studies at the Biochemistry department of Baylor College of Medicine, I requested my dad to say a few words about the Gita, which I promptly recorded on tape. In his brief talk, he said that the Gita is a sarva anukoola shastra, a scriptural guide which is convenient to everyone. That one phrase said it all. But I always wondered why even those who knew the Gita made life inconvenient for themselves and for others. Was it because of ‘something else’ (divisive and dogmatic ideas) coming in the way? I kept reading every book on Gita I could lay my hands on; I might have read fifty versions by now. In addition to that, I attended many discourses by reputed scholars. I found some new insights as well as the ‘something else’, which was not always the same, but was always there, and in disguise at times. All along, I was trying to intuitively make sense, especially of some tricky verses which could be understood in multiple ways; in a way, I was trying to read Krishna’s mind.
In 1987 as a biotechnology scientist at Phillips Petroleum Company, I attended a conference in Weimar, East Germany during which I visited Martin Luther’s hometown, I wondered why the Hindus did not get a Martin Luther but had only Popes! Then it dawned on me that Krishna is not just our Martin Luther but so much more than that. In 1988, I happened to watch Joseph Campbell and The Power of Myth with Bill Moyers, on public television. I could see the beauty of myth. The question: “Did everything happen exactly as in the epic Mahabharata?” stopped troubling me. Many traditionalists take the epic literally while many rationalists discard it entirely. Thanks to Joseph Campbell, I did not fall into either of those traps.
In 1990, my brother K. Srinivas gifted me D. V. Gundappa’s discourse on Gita in Kannada, Jeevana Dharma Yoga (‘A Manual for Living’). This was a book first published in 1966, bringing national recognition to the author. I was happy to see that some of my own intuitive understanding was also echoed in DVG’s book.
My friend K. Vasudevan wanted to bring out an English translation of the Gita and asked me for a recommendation. I couldn’t think of one that I wholeheartedly liked. So in 2005, I began working on a translation, trying to keep out that ‘something else.
I had just completed a word-for-word translation to be published as a ‘one verse a day, self-study manual’ and shared the draft with a few, when the best happened. There came along my nephew Hari Ravikumar, over three decades younger (only in age) as co-author with brilliant ideas, great depth, unique talents, insights, and style. He wanted to first have a modern English version in order to make the book accessible to any person, from any culture, who wants to know about the Gita or about Indian wisdom. as a result we brought out The New Bhagavad-Gita: Timeless wisdom in the language of our times in 2011. Then in 2013, we wrote The Easy Bhagavad-Gita: An easy-to-read version for busy people. Both these books were well-received by readers around the world. In 2014, we published The Complete Bhagavad-Gita, a verse-by-verse self-study guide to master the ancient text with new insights.
I wish to express my heartfelt thanks to everyone who helped us during these years. We would not have these books but for their constant support and encouragement. Also, I must thank my dear wife Shailini for putting up with this ‘Gita-nut’, a title accorded by our daughter and son!
I have always felt unexplainable joy even while simply reciting verses of the Gita and so much more when I have gone deeper into the text. But for my father’s initiation I might not have had a life-long obsession with this masterpiece. It is the greatest gift my father gave me.

About the Course Thanks to Shilpa Sharma for inviting me to conduct this online Bhagavad-Gita course in English! It will span from mid-Aug to mid-Oct. 2024. It is a course for anyone who is interested. Except for a working knowledge of English, no other pre-requisites are expected.
Starting on the auspicious Shukla Ekadashi as well as India’s Independence Day (August 15; it will be August 16 for India), the hour-long classes will be on zoom, five days a week (on weekdays, at 9.30pm EST) with no homework. I will read out the Sanskrit shloka, give the meaning of the words, and explain the import of the verse. I will try to ensure that the basic concepts are clear to everyone. I will leave the last 10-15 minutes of each one-hour session for any Q&A. That will also be time for my co-author Hari Ravikumar to share any thoughts.
In this manner, I will go through all seven hundred verses of the text, fully dedicated to Gita!
Whatever has been expounded in the Gita is meant to be experimented in our life and to be realized by experience rather than by blind faith or excessive intellectualization. I will share my personal experiences where appropriate.
By the end of the course, you will get an idea of what the Bhagavad-gita contains—and perhaps the learnings will enrich your life.
While teaching the class, I will be using our book The Complete Bhagavad-Gita (available in the US in three volumes)— Vol. 1 https://www.amazon.com/Complete-Bhagavad-Gita-verse-verse-self-study/dp/1724515853 Vol. 2 https://www.amazon.com/Complete-Bhagavad-Gita-verse-verse-self-study/dp/172451637X Vol. 3 https://www.amazon.com/Complete-Bhagavad-Gita-verse-verse-self-study/dp/1724516736
This is going to be roughly a sixty-hour course in a seriously casual setting, spanning three months. It is a free course.

I’m not saying Mason wants to settle down atm bc his main priority is football considering how terrible things have been last season and now but I do think that since the large majority at Utd are family men and Utd do have family days a lot so he is constantly surrounded by that and that’s what’s making him have FOMO whereas in Chelsea most of his teammates weren’t in rs especially now that the team are a lot younger so I wonder if he would feel differently had he stayed there (I read an article and it said he wants to settle down but the sun bs a lot so I’m taking that with a grain of salt)
I don't think Mason will feel pressured by his teammates to settle down etc. He's still young, lots of life left to live!

The girl is called Freya Tidy and she is a bit like Sasha (jack grealish gf) where she is an influencer but does modelling too also I watch her yt and follow her on ig and she is the type to talk about everything in her rs but then again she’s never dated anyone famous so I don’t know if she’ll clout chase if they are even dating or just went on one date. I’m also assuming she just broke up with her ex bc she was still posting about them like a month ago and now she’s pictured with mason
Aah so this with mason might be a recent thing
